Introducing Black Rock City’s First Utility-Scale Clean Energy Power Plant

We’ve turned abundant energy from a fusion reactor 93 million miles away that's been running flawlessly for 4.6 billion years into a free public utility.

Over the course of eight days, this solar microgrid generates enough clean energy to fully charge (from 0 to 100% state of charge) about:

30,000+ e-bikes (500 Wh each), or
130+ large art cars (120 kWh each), or
2,600+ small mutant vehicles (6 kWh each), or
1,000,000+ phones (15 Wh each), or

Currently, a portion of the capacity is used power all of Mayan Warrior and SOLARPUNKS theme camps purely on clean electrons (including RVs, air conditioning and more). The rest of the capacity is allocated for 7,000 e-bikes, or 30 large art cars, or 580 small mutant vehicles, or to keep 233,000 phones alive during one week of Burning Man - for free.

Harvesting solar energy is hyper local. Decentralized clean energy means communities capture the value instead of shipping profits to fossil fuel shareholders, keeping funds (and jobs) circulating within neighborhoods that can go toward education, healthcare and more.

SOLAR STATION is also a field test for displacing diesel generators across industries — festivals, disaster response, construction sites, film productions — anywhere portable power currently means portable pollution.

The climate math is unforgiving, but the data shows that if we retire fossil fuel infrastructure in time, we can make it - the technology exists and the economics are inevitable.
